Smokey is a locally owned and operated family business that is based in Katikati in the Bay of Plenty by Rob and Jodie Renyard. They have a combined 40 years’ experience in the food industry. Their experience includes; culinary training, restaurant set up & management, food buying in the grocery industry and sales & marketing in various food corporations.
They settled in Katikati in 2012, moving from Auckland with their two children. With Rob’s love of fishing and Jodie’s passion for cooking, Smokey was the ideal business venture to run together.
They saw a need in the market for premium smoked fish that was naturally manufactured without all the unnecessary additives and preservatives while using tried and true methods that have been around for hundreds of years.
Rob and Jodie are passionate about preserving our fisheries for future generations. We work closely only with those local sustainably managed fisheries that have the same passion for preserving our oceans while celebrating what our coastal waters have to offer.
